According to CNN in its just-aired 7pm, 1-18-03 newscast, "a Newsweek poll shows 60% of Americans favor diplomacy right now, and most oppose U.S. military action without explicit UN approval."
There is no widespread U.S. public support for unilateral or pre-emptive military action, but there is widespread support for peace.
