Yes, Tony, Françoise Giroud's passing away was important news on the french radio and TV stations. She headed l'Express and was the first woman journalist and had a great influence on women choosing careers that the mainstream thought was only meant for men.
She died from head injuries she suffered after falling stairs leaving a theatre, I believe.
It's quite disturbing how often such accidents occur.
