I did not read the preceding criticism. I only read half of the Chomsky text before I gave up (I did not see any "excuses" up till then). I note that there was no mention of Pol Pot in the entirety of the Chomsky text (thanks to <ctrl-f>).
What I did see was Chomsky's attack on the scholarship of a book that depicted the horror of Cambodia. I am in no position to judge whether his accusations are on target or not. If they are on target, then it's good that he raises them. If they are not on target then he should be nailed for lying.
