I wonder what the 200,000+ casualties of Saddam would say?

Fisk can pander to his clientele with graphic verbal imagery, but the world has never been without violence or bloodshed. If his point is that war is horrible - everyone knows this. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell and Blair all know this.

However the prospect of millions of deaths due to WMD used against the US by letting him get away once again, will provide a montage of horror that makes Fisk's descriptions pale beside it.

From dying children grasping for the arms of their dead mothers to the dead in the streets so thick they will have to be piled up with bulldozers.

At which point the war without seeming end which you fear would become a reality as the US turns the deserts into an irradiated hell. However, it would have an end - because the rest of the non-barbaric world would not want to be next.

War is terrible.

Saddam has been offered sanctuary with his family and his top governing personnel.

The fact that he does not accept exile shows how intent his plans are to rule the middle east and blackmail the world once his nuclear ambitions are fulfilled.

Fisk fails to mention this of course and like all panderers offers nothing but sensationalism draped in a indignant false morality.

The Germans and the allies were being eaten by flies and their swollen corpses littered Germany as well - my great uncles among them. Is Fisk going to deride the US and Britain for that war? Or is it only arabs and the Saddam Hussein regime which is so wonderful and worthy of his antiwar rhetoric?

Thanks for posting it Lindy, Fisk is always an easy mark.
