>Fisk's ......point is that war is horrible - everyone knows this. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell and Blair all know this.
I would say they know how dangerous it is....like a crap shoot (never knowing the unintended consequences), but I rather doubt any but Powell have seen the dead, rotting corspes from conflict as far as the eye can see.
>However the prospect of millions of deaths due to WMD used against the US by letting him get away once again, will provide a montage of horror that makes Fisk's descriptions pale beside it.
OK, so we're having inspections and we should CONTINUE to have inspections. Like truck drivers getting randomly piss tested for drugs, Hussein should have open and random inspections for years to come. Destruction could come to the US in the form of a briefcase nuke, and yes, there would be horrible damage. But not just from Hussein, Bush's monster of the month. You should know that it will upset the whole middle east and make more enemies for us. The price of gas will go up, and all of our other enemies will be sneaking into and plotting against us while our energies are directed elsewhere.
>the war.....which you fear would become a reality as the US turns the deserts into an irradiated hell.
So you're with the "nuke 'em" crowd. Oh, how wonderful you are!
We shouldn't have to think and take into consideration the rest of the world, "Hell.......we'll just play our highest card and nuke them!"
How STUPID of you. You think that other countries with nuclear weapons will just sit back and LET US? Riiiiiiight!
No, Pakistan would nuke Israel and then we'd have to start nuking our old allies.
You see, I guess you haven't watched Kubricks's "How I stopped worrying and learned to love the bomb".
>The fact that Hussein does not accept exile shows how intent his plans are to rule the middle east and blackmail the world once his nuclear ambitions are fulfilled.
He will NOT fulfill his nuclear ambitions because he won't get a chance.
And if he TRIES to rule the Middle East, then I guess they'll ASK for our help, and then we'll give it to them.
>Fisk....... offers nothing but sensationalism draped in a indignant false morality.
No, as a war journalist, he has seen first hand the horrors of war, and gives no lip service to it.
He has COMPASSION for his fellow man, something I believe you lack, unless it serves your self-interests....or your paycheck. (Woops! Should this be on the Flame board??)
YOU should talk about "indignant false morality"!
