Yugoslavia is no more?
It is now a new nation called Serbia-Montenegro.
I saw this short story this morning;
Lawmakers all but dissolved the Balkan federation Tuesday and created a new nation. It's called Serbia and Montenegro.
The two republics now each have greater autonomy. A small joint administration is in charge of defense and foreign affairs. They could move to outright independence from each other by 2006.
Yugoslavia was founded in 1918 as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. It included six republics until the early 1990s, when Slobodan Milosevic presided over a bloody breakup that saw Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia and Slovenia secede.
Montenegro, which has just 650,000 people, is dwarfed by Serbia, home to 10 million.
