Probably for the best...
There's an awful lot of nations that were "created" by incorporating several smaller, and often highly incompatible national groups into one large entity. Reversing this may sometimes be a good thing.
Africa contains many such examples of "artificial" conglomerate nations created during colonial times. A lot of strife might be avoided if some of these were divided up.
