Any attempts to redraw the national borders in Africa would cause even more strive. For better or worse, a 'national interest' has indeed been created within each nation for the dominant party, who would never agree to part with valuable natural resources (e.g. oil) or otherwise valuable or strategic territory. Nigeria is a very good example. Northern Muslims have played the dominant role in politics and the military forces since independance, and would never in a million years agree to part with the southern oil-rich regions. The Ibos of southeast Nigeria tried to seceed in the late 1960's and created the Republic of Biafra - a million of them got slaughtered and starved for their trouble and Biafra was destroyed.

Good thought but completely impractical
