Drubbing? Hmmm. ;-)

Out of power? Hmmm. Must be some other Musharraf.

Strike One. ;-)

Since you and your guys want the war, the burden of proof is on them. Forged Nigerian papers? El Baredei saying that not one shred of evidence exists for a nuclear program? Aluminium tubes that turned out to not have the qualities needed for centrafuge uranium refining? Is this your proof?

Me and my guys DON'T want war. I would love to take him out with a team, but he's just not a public guy. He's MORE hidden than Hitler, has survived at least a dozen assassination attempts from his own people, Kurds, etc. and never sleeps in the same bed twice. He should be nicknamed the Moleman who rules underground caverns and chambers filled with minions and underlings.

I will agree it is a costly and inefficient way to excise a cancer - much as chemotherapy kills too many good cells as well as cancerous ones and causes all sorts of problems.

Your defense is straight out of "progressive sites" positions exemplified by this one. They conveniently brush off Saddam's history like it didn't matter and that he may somehow be reformed. Anyone who thinks Saddam is reformable - well perhaps they would like to buy some land on Jupiter from me.

Heck, Saddam's previous nuclear program is proof enough he has the intent and resources to build a weapon. Like a judge, one has to take into account the suspect's previous record. That Iraq had been declared clean before the gulf war as well by the same UN team that is declaring him clean now is no surprise. The UN has a vested interest in preserving peace and the status quo and are not really good at turning over rocks and exposing their underside.

The UN's repeated statement that a nuclear program is too big to hide is pure "grade A" BS. We were completely surprised at the Pakistan/India developments until mushroom clouds were forming in the sky. If the nation has as many billions as Saddam has - many things are possible.

As for me...smarmy and demeaning? You must mistake me for someone else. I have no intent to demean or be smarmy. I just like to poke and prod in the face of your austere determination.

Besides, I don't see these boards as debates with winners and losers - I see them as places for chatting and sharing opinions.
