None.

But then as I recall, there are people who said all along this was the only reason to go to war, that disarming Saddam was being done by the UN.

The first targets for ground troops was the oil fields. Second, contracts for Halliburton.

And even more blatant is the contract to put out fires. Halliburton got it, and then SUBCONTRACTED EVERYTHING. They don't put out fires.

What is surprising is how completely blatant they are about it. I mean, if this looks bad to us, there isn't a rational soul in the world now, man, woman or child, who could deny the rationale behind this slaughter.

Greed. People on both sides are dying for, yup, greed.

“President Bush Tuesday asked Congress for $489.3 million to cover the cost of repairing damage to Iraq's oil facilities, much or all of which could go to Halliburton or its subcontractors under the terms of its contract with the Army.”

“The Army Corps of Engineers told CNN Tuesday that Halliburton would be paid on a "cost plus" basis, meaning it would be reimbursed for the costs of its work and would get a certain percentage of those costs as a fee. “

“But its biggest value could be that it puts Halliburton in a prime position to handle the complete refurbishment of Iraq's long-neglected oil infrastructure, which will be a plum job. “

That good ol’ competitive, capitalist, cost-effective “cost-plus” stuff. Gravy.
