I think the Pentagon won't announce anything until they find a smoking cannon.

Fighter pilots (specifically Capt. Mary "Ginger" Melfi, an F-15E weapon systems officer) have nailed SCUDs in Western Iraq, according to interviews in Aviation Week, which ain't exactly the Weekly World News on such subjects. Unfortunately the article is subscriber only.

SCUDs would be a smoking gun of sorts, certainly. I have no idea why more isn't being said about this sort of thing. The Pentagon seems almost frightened of having to actually bring out any evidence of any kind, or speculating in any way. I know the press is lying in wait to jump all over them, but it still seems overly cautious.
