Bush's Partial Defeat

I must be getting bonus points for defending Bush on the war cause I can't get a rise out of his other supporters on anything I say negatively about GW (global warming not short for GWB) or taxcuts. Course they probably don't want another GW dissertation right now and I don't feel up to it anyway.

Tax cuts slashed in half. Cheers to the Republicans still concerned about deficits.

Turn around the economy by putting idle capacity back to use now, not planning on increasing productivity a year or two from now. Raising long term interest rates may result from increased deficits and you can kiss a return to the Goldilocks economy any time soon goodbye. If you're going to increase it at least make it a short term stimulous rather than a long term drag.

For the stimulous guys, please remember Bush proposed this back when Greenspan was trying to cool the economy. It's not about stimulous, its about a long term Republican goal. Low interest rates gave our country all the growth it could handle without going inflationary. A return to those conditions will be as good as it can get and better for the future.

Regards,
Mark
