I'm an avid reader of Charles Krauthammer. I agree 100% with his position that it's time to declare the United Nations, impotent. The organization's refusal to enforce 1441 was just the final straw in a long string of evidence that this body is a joke. The current fight over the sanctions and Iraq's oil-for-food program is just further example that the U.N. is not only subject to, but also controlled by corruption.
It's time for the United States to withdraw from the U.N., an act which would cause it to quickly wither and die in itself.
It's time for the U.S. and it's allies, along with other moderate nations to form a new global organization in which Iraq would not have been scheduled to chair a Disarmament Conference, with Iran acting as co-chair. An organization in which Lybia wouldn't act as chair of a Human Rights Commission. An organization in which the corrupt agenda of a single country would not have the power to snuff out the will of 14 other nations. An organization in which a country with a human rights record as atrocious as that of China would not have permanent membership status. An organization in which France and Russia would not have the power to keep the Iraqi people in a state of starvation in order to preserve their own lucrative oil deals.
As Krauthammer titled a previous column on this subject: U.N., R.I.P.
