I think the point he was trying to make is that no one is even LOOKING for a possible racial link, since it is politically incorrect. Certainly it would be worth investigating, especially under lab conditions.
We suffered similar PC problems with AIDS, when people were doing their damnedest to separate the spreading of the disease from any connection with the behavior of a politically powerful minority group. Don't want this to happen again.
I don't think this is biowarfare, since as a bioweapon, SARS kind of sucks on a number of levels.
