"Though I find your suggestion that there are so many Pentagon lawyers on this because the President's orders may encourage violation of the Geneva Convention -- a relatively clear treaty that is routinely interpreted by International Red Cross representatives -- fascinating. "
Methinks you lack a certain *appreciation* of laws in general.
Any simple law can be made vastly complicated if you have enough lawyers working on it:).
Also I would guess that any *common* US soldier would have a better understanding of the Geneva Convention than a International Red Cross representative [I don't assume some Red Cross Representative has vast knowledge in the area]
Anyways, after posting the post [the one you said I was incoherent^], I later thought I might have made an error. The Geveva Convention probably wouldn't be the law, rather the laws coming from Nuremberg, specifically regarding following commands from superiors, is what I should have said.
Nuremberg and how it relates to other laws (such as Geveva Convention) would be one focus of these lawyers.
