"We didn't just make up the accusation about WMD out of whole cloth. Sometimes you talk like Saddam had had nothing to do with WMD until Bush started throwing accusations."

I'm not so sure, Tom. But even if that was the case- NONE of the claims of Terrorist ties held up to any scrutiny... So I claim those were outright fabrications.

"Sometimes you talk like Saddam had had nothing to do with WMD until Bush started throwing accusations."

With WMD, this is not so. But wit terorist links, this is pretty much as I see it. Arbitrary and fabricated.

"I find it amazingly naive to think that had he been left in power for another decade that he would have abandoned this goal entirely."

It appears the continual international pressure not only kept him in checj from using WMD, as I had claimed before the war- but the pressure had prevented him from keeping and manufacturing WMD.

I find it amazingly naive of you that you believe war was the only answer. Oddly and amazingly, it seemed like the pressure and inspectiosn had been working! Whaddaya know! (thats sarcasm, btw)

"Your analogy might be a bit better had your peasant girl actually been roasting little children in her candy house years ago."

And your moral outrage for the little roasted children might be convincing if you :
1) Decidedly supported war in every country with bad human rights records and
2) could demonstrate that war did not result in the roasting of any little children and
3) In the midst of the ongoing violence and instability in occupied Iraq, be convincing that what we have done has 'proofed' that country from further tyrants, instability and violence.

But you can't on any of those three counts. The roasted child is just a rhetorical technique.
