You misunderstood my reason for suggesting the search. It was not to look for this particular story. I found a considerable number of other cases where a major beef had been raised about the depictions of blacks, native Americans, or Latinos in cartoons. While I only had verbal descriptions to go on in many of these stories, the "racism" seemed no more blatant than what could be interpreted by an oversensitive person in the depiction of Sharon, with the smallest hint of a stereotype being enough to pillory the cartoonist.
Objectively speaking, I would have to agree that this is a tempest in a teapot, and that the artist probably had no anti-Jewish intent whatsoever. Sometimes a caricature is just a caricature, as Freud would say.
I just found it a bit irritating that people here looked at it and didn't even see how such an interpretation is possible.
The Left/Right bit comes into this only peripherally, where the Right can get accused of racism at the drop of a hat, but the Left can get away with the rankest racial crap and never get called on it.
