Geek Speak

Arrrrrrrrrghhh Geek type disaster

Ok, so I decided to reformat and reload Windows, as with any of the 9X O/S it is a yearly thing.
My system was locking up, freezing during boot, and many JAVA apps gave it the hiccups.

So, I gritted my teeth, backed the important stuff up and typed in the dreaded MS-DOS command.

It actually began rather well, got Win 98SE disc loaded, updated, all that crap. Then I began loading my secondary software (printer, scanner ETc). That was going well, then the dreaded BSOD. Now it's totally locked up, can't even get to 'safe mode', keeps booting over and over, as soon as the desktop starts to appear, it reboots, without ever getting to the log in screen. Then repeats the cycle, until I literally turn it off with the switch.

Any suggestions as to getting back to the beginning? Or do I drag it out back and shoot it?

(Damned glad I can get here form work on occasion.)
