I had a computer that would reboot itself randomly. Believe me many obscenities were hurled its way. After replacing the CPU it was fine. It doesn't sound like exactly the same problem, but maybe you could borrow a spare CPU from someone and give it a try. might be worth swapping out the RAM as well.

PS, I happen to live in a neighborhood full of computer parts packrats and do-it-yourselfers like myself, so borrowing a spare CPU doesn't seem like a big deal. However I realize you may not be so fortunate in your surroundings.
