A "transfer of value" can mean giving of oneself.
Any way you slice it, giving of yourself is a cost, sometime worth much more than a 'farthing'
Like Tom's example of Mother Teresa. It doesn't necessarily mean a transfer of money. A donation to disaster relief would qualify as compassionate. You can't be there when something happens clear across the country.

Once (or twice) I assumed the worst about you and I was wrong. I learned I should give you the benefit of the doubt. You paint Tom as some kind of sociopath. Think about it.
