"Truth" is arrived at not by consensus - ¨me and my budies all got together and agreed this is the way things are" , but rather by observation (data) -

In the case of Mars, given the limited data, you have people running these god awful chains of inference - along with a good deal of emotional wishing throw in to bias perception -

Barry asserted that the data returned by Pathfinder showed that the hypothesis about Mars "oxidizing" environment was simply not well founded - and thus any inferences about that¨"oxisizing" enviroment which were used to explain the Viking labeled release data were simply no longer tenable -

You have used about every ruse you can think of to avoid dealing with this - and there´s little need for me to enumerate them here once again -

As for my views on the subject, ssan´t there some Greek philosopher who said that he didn´t know?
