Chris Vancil or Mark Eby have no clue as to what real science is a the Mars Society fakery. Your point is excellent and shows their level of ignorance regarding the subject.
Canvas space suits with garbage can ringed plastic helmets do not compare to the Apollo suits costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Apollo missions to the moon were real, the Mars Society fake Mars missions are just that - fake.
Their leader calls himself a "commander" in all of the media. Just type in Commander Zubrin in a search engine like Google and see how many hits you get!
I say the Mars Society theatrics are just to make a buck on those foolish enough to buy into it. It is directly targeted to the Star Trek mentality.
