re: Liberia not like Iraq

In Liberia, government troops are shooting at rebels (and vice versa) and it's a very dangerous situation for the population and it affects neighboring countries. That's why the UN is involved and what the UN members are calling for is a MULTILATERAL action against the war in Liberia. No colonization, no involvement of a single country, but an international force, with a legal international mandate.

Iraq was no threat to its neighboring countries, was under an UN embargo and the international community (except a few) didn't believe Iraq had WMD's (and so far none have been either used in 2003 or found). Yet, the US decided UNILATERALLY to attack Iraq and now to occupy it, without UN mandate, taking the full responsability of the consequences of the war.

These are really two different circumstances.

I know, most americans don't care about international law but the problem is we're fighting international terrorism, not just one dictator, but a few terrorists spread all over the globe, and the US be better leaning in favor of international cooperation if only for the information it needs to get as to how to stop them from perpetrating their crimes.
