BBC: White House 'warned over Iraq claim'
The CIA warned the US Government that claims about Iraq's nuclear ambitions were not true months before President Bush used them to make his case for war, the BBC has learned.
BBC article
I have previously posted on spokesman Ari Fleischer's recent admission that the Niger uranium documents were forged. As I noted at the time, Fleischer's statement amounted to a limited hang-out because it excluded the critical piece of information which this BBC article highlights, i.e. that the CIA had already determined that the documents in question were likely bogus well before Pres. Bush's State of the Union address, where he used the documents to bolster his claim that Iraq was seeking to revive its nuclear weapons program.
As I have stated before, in simple language this means that President Bush lied to the American people, and he lied to them, not about an affair with an intern, but about justification to invade another country.
I have also noted previously that this information has been available in the open press for quite some time to anyone who bothered to read beyond the lurid headlines.
