You know who the Europeans Johnson was talking about as well as I do. I know who he means when he uses the term "intellectual," and it just isn't someone who likes to think. Maybe next time I bitch about "Democratic policies" you can come across all innocent and wonder what I would possibly have against voting for our leaders.

There are a lot of people who are intellectual in the sense the dictionary list you gave defines it. Most won't think of themselves in that term. They're just smart. Run like hell from anyone who primarily defines themselves as one. You'll know...you'll hear the capital "I" when they say the word. Run faster if it appears on their business cards.
