Paul Johnson is a British historian. I'm sure he just pulled these descriptions and behaviors of many European intellectuals out of thin air, and has never met or known anyone in Europe who acts like that.
Given time I could dig up a long list of academics and others in America who think exactly like Phil says, and you know it. Noam Chomsky pops immediately to mind. What's your point?
