Ambushes kill 3 U.S. soldiers in 24 hours
BAGHDAD, Iraq, July 21 — Iraq’s insurgency against American troops continued on Monday with a fresh grenade and small arms fire attack that killed an American soldier and his Iraqi interpreter in north Baghdad, the U.S. military said. Monday’s ambush followed similar attacks on Sunday, which killed two soldiers. The top American commander, meanwhile, said he planned to establish an Iraqi militia to patrol the country.
