It's a change of pace from the interchangable CGI ninja/carcrash/explosion/shootemup festivals, and Rowan Atkinson has never let me down. I haven't seen it yet myself, but plan to soon.
I'm getting tired of the action movies. For one thing, they have all moved into cartoon territory, and any sense of real danger to a character fades away, as well as any sense of real world limits. You expect Wile E. Coyote to walk unharmed away from explosions and kicks to the jaw, but it get silly when live characters do it. In real life one of those famous kung-fu fights would last two seconds until one of the fighters collapsed with about five broken bones and blood spurting from his orifices.
Don't even talk to me about Charlie's Angels 2, and the famous "Climb Into the Turbine Helicopter, Start It Dead Cold and Fly Away In It During A Plummeting Fall That Would Take Ten Seconds In Real Life" scene.
And how the hell do you MISS somebody with a machine gun? The first Matrix movie was the biggest offender here, even before Neo figured out how to avoid bullets. The lobby scene. Okay, it's a long movie tradition to have the bad guy fire two hundred shots and miss, and the good guy nail him with one. But cripes.
Also, Neo pumped about twelve million rounds from a chain gun into a room where his boss was tied to a chair. Every one of them missed his boss.
Storyboard of Neo somehow managing to miss Morpheus after pumping about sixty high velocity bullets into every square centimeter of the room Morpheus is sitting in.
I could go on like this for hours, but I think I've geeked enough for one post.

Try "Johnny English."
