T2 and Johnny English

Saw both of them. T2 was okay, certainly entertaining, but nothing much to recommend plotwise, like anyone cares. Do you ask a roller coaster ride to have a plot? A lot of "Forbin Project" floating around here. Some clever lines, and Arnold has fun as always. At least with a bulletproof character, you can't complain about how all the machine guns are missing him...

Johnny English was funny, but not near the level of "Blackadder" in dialogue, or "Mr. Bean" in sight gags. The gags were funny, if you didn't mind them being telegraphed an hour ahead of time.

Example: Johnny English secretly observes an enemy agent being disguised as the Archbishop of Canterbury with a rubber mask. The enemy agent bends over to don his outer garb, and reveals on his upper butt a distinctive tattoo.

See it coming?

Yes, the real Archbishop of Canterbury is indeed gloriously pantsed by the hapless English on international television.

Most of the gags are like this. You could see every major punch line coming down Broadway. Still, they were funny enough that one didn't mind. Like T2, entertaining, but no classic. And to some people, Atkinson is an acquired taste. My wife can't stand him.
