Nick says "Science is not a matter of "belief", but of learning"

According to a lot people in the science community your theory about liquid CO2 flows is about "belief" and not much else. Also, the the Viking PR biology experiment did find small amounts of organic molecules in seven out of nine experiments - this is not belief, but fact. It is in direct opposition of what the Viking GCMS found.

Then of course there is the nine soil tests the Viking LR made. For some scientists, "believing" that unknown oxidants exist is important for them, for others, it seems that a biological interpretation fits the data. It's the data that count not the belief. But yet we chose to "believe" or own pet theories don't we?

Should Beagle 2 confrim organic molecules on Mars, this data added to the old will spell doom for the oxidant hypothesis and the biological interpretation will then need reexamination.

As the Mars Odyssey neutron detector keeps finding more and more evidence for water/ice on Mars, CO2 flows seem an extremely remote possibility. No, it seems "belief is alive and well in science today. If you don't believe in your theory who will?
