Rolling over countries like Afghanistan and Iraq was easy (two weeks). What if a heavily armed country was responsible, like North Korea? How long do you think a war with North Korea would last? Three weeks? Fifty years? North Korea may be planning on invading the south, hence a non-aggression treaty with the US.
