Lies, damn lies, and Michael Moore

A favorite technique of some "debaters" is to spew lies with such force and in such quantity that the opponent is left reeling, like a tennis player facing two dozen ball-throwing machines operating in rapid succession. Typically, it requires some time and words to explain why a one-sentence sound-byte lie just isn't true.

Fortunately, in the age of the Internet, a liar finds himself facing a squadron of critics that can take him on in unison, and often one or more people will actually do the legwork required to get the job done.

Michael Moore, whose books and "documentaries" are raw bullshit from end to end, has been soundly trounced from many sources. He lies by commission, omission, distortion, and pretty much every other mechanism possible. And he's been caught out on every one.

His response has been ludicrous, including pathetic indignation, excuses, and running around changing things in his work and hoping nobody notices. I commented a while back on certain things said on his website that later "disappeared" or were quietly re-edited without notice. However, in the Age of the Cache, it isn't that easy to cover up your scat any more. In self-defense, no doubt, Moore's reader comment section also developed "technical problems" and quietly disappeared for good.

Now, Moore is backtracking on his movie. And this isn't working for him either.

A good touchstone to find out if you're dealing with an unrepentant liberal: ask him what he thinks of Michael Moore. Almost as useful as flushing leftists from cover by asking what they think of Fidel Castro.
