You Keep Ignoring The Historical Context of GW1 & UN Resolutions Authorizing Force

That makes a huge difference. We didn't just attack Iraq out of the blue or without a lot of relevant UN resolutions.

We should not attack just anyone whose government we diskike and no one is recommending that. However, Genocide, WMD, brutal repression of rebellions, and breaking treaties and UN resolutions are rather more serious offenses than just being assholes like the French. What it appears to come down to Mary-Anne is that you and many others are just inherently uncomfortable with using force. It's an admirable concern, but is easily exploited by those without scruples. I also still have a big problem with moralizing from people who see nothing wrong with allowing murderous tyrants continue brutal regimes after hundreds of thousands have been killed. While we can't always do something about it I at least feel a sense of guilt when we stand idly by.

The handwaving away of much evidence the Iraqi people are glad to be rid of Hussein is also a sign of something less than pure moral outrage.

Regards,
Mark
