TOM: "Economic growth is now steady and strong. Employment ALWAYS lags behind the other indicators. Check the statistics on other recessions."
MY REPLY: You apparently missed this little jewel from the article: "But never has the lag between recovery and the creation of jobs been this long and this painful, economists say. The only other U.S. recession that was followed by such late and slow job growth came in 1991 and 1992, according to a new study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. That "jobless recovery" helped doom President George H.W. Bush's reelection, though job growth was actually flat."
TOM: "Heck, according to this, the Federal work force increased by about a million. But does he get any credit? Noooo! ;)"
MY REPLY: You mean you're proud of Mr. Bush's "big government?!?" Of course, at the same time Mr. Clinton balanced the fderal budget and built the most prosperous economy in history, he also cut the federal workforce down to levels that haven't been seen since the Kennedy administration.
The point is simple...like father, like son. The double Bush's have both been disasterous for the economy and working families in this country. Hopefully, we will see a repeat of 1992 in 2004.
