Okay, so it was worth the price of admission to open my sample ballot today and see several pages of candidates (listed here, although on my sample ballot they are not in alphabetical order, but some kind of random order.) Gallagher! I love it!

But I'm pretty sure the recall isn't going to turn out that well for Republicans.

First, Davis is going to launch an all-out attack on the recall effort, and boy, nobody attacks like he does. He may actually pull his ass out of the fire.

Second, all the Democrats are lining up behind Bustamente as a replacement, a Democrat who would instantly drill California even further into the ground than Davis.

Third, the best candidate for the job is Tom McClintock, but he doesn't stand much chance in our state against Arnold, and odds are good that the vote might split enough to make Bustamente the winner.

In an ideal world, Arnold would suddenly see the light and back McClintock, but I ain't holding my breath.
