If you did, then I must apologize for believing that you could not *create* such thoughts.
Your questions are an indication that you may be a *human* after all.
I have not seen a computer *create* a spontaneous and meaningful questions, they must be programmed to respond.
You ask two questions that are very interesting.
Johannes, do you take on students? And if not, could you perhaps provide some history and background of how you attained this subtle and delicate knowledge?
I will try to answer them.
1)"do you take on students?"
If you are seriously asking such a question, and if that question refers to my understanding of the laws that govern the fundamental structure of matter, then my answer is: *It depends* (I will clarify that answer later)
2) "could you perhaps provide some history and background of how you attained this subtle and delicate knowledge?"
Yes, I could certainly do that, but I would be condensing forty years of research and observation into few sentences and that would not give an adequate database, from which, you could criticize or correct the errors that I may have made.
After all, the purpose of science is to increase our understanding of the laws of nature. I think that by discussing individual points of interest on the subject, you will attain a quicker understanding of the matter.
I would like to propose that we continue discussing this situation in an informal and *civilized* manner on the net. Although this method has its own drawbacks, it gives everyone that is interested, the chance to comment and give their own objection or approval of what I have written.
There are at least two drawbacks that I can foresee. First: If I continue to post here very often with long explanations or memories of progress towards a better understanding of the Einstein's formula, it may become objectionable to some people. After all, forty years is a long time to gather information and I have a lot to tell.
Second: In order to do justice to the *depth* of knowledge contained in the concise formula, I would need to take the time to express myself very precisely so that misconceptions would be minimized. As I said in an earlier post "my English eint so good" and the extra effort needed to express myself precisely, and the volume of information to cover, would take enough time out of the day, so that I would need to refrain from doing gainful employment type of activities. (Shucks; I'd have to quit working.)
Where would I get my daily bread?
Since you asked, I will try to answer; your second question first.
You did not mention how much depth in the history or background you wanted to know, so I will give you a short version of the beginning of *my quest* for the understanding of Einstein's formula.
Back somewhere in the nineteen hundred and fifties, I quite often purchased the magazines; Popular Electronics and Popular Science. In these Magazines I found some very thought provoking ideas. One was the question; "what is electricity?" and the other was a discussion on the fact that no one knew how the energy and mass are combined, as they should be, according to Einstein's theory of E=MC^2. The unanswered questions piqued my curiosity and I started my own research efforts to find out what the truth was. (There is much more, even to this part of the story, but I will leave it *as is* for now.)
As for your other question: IF the two *problems* that are mentioned above could be somehow *ironed out* then the answer to your question would be a resounding YES.
Perhaps the following scenario would work.
Suppose that I had a bbs type board that was dedicated to the discussion of this subject. Sort of like the Habitablezone or the various boards therein.
Now suppose further that on this board there was an area that would be used for the purpose of *donations*, where the participants could donate a dollar or two for the * privilege * of obtaining a different/better understanding of the fundamental laws of nature.
Supposing that after a while the *collection plate* would contain certain amount of *cash* that would come in my direction, then under such circumstances, it would be a pleasure to devote long working hours to explaining my *theory*.
Continuing this speculation further, IF my *reward* was more than adequate for my normal expenditures. Then the extra would be used for space related research and development.
What do you think, would the scheme work?
Are there may people in the world that are interested in understanding fundamental laws of nature, and would any of them contribute something in order to obtain that understanding?
Keep smiling
Johannes

re: Hey Davin L, I suspect that you may have had an original thought.
