So why didn't it bother anybody in 2002?
My area uses a punch card vote. I'm not worried. My vote was counted, and will be in the future. Why? Because anyone with the goddam brain of a paramecium can make sure the card is clearly marked. You pick it up. You look at it. Check to make sure it's clean, and turn it in. If you screw up, they give you another one. If you need help, someone is provided to help you. My wife gets a special punch thing because she has trouble with her hands. If you really can't get out of the house, you get an absentee ballot. If you take the care it requires to light a cigarette without setting your hair on fire, you can get a ballot that works.
The normal error rate for punch cards is about 3.2 percent. OMR (optical mark readers) have a rate of about 2.3 percent. DRE (touch screen) is about 3 percent. This is so close it is statistical noise.
These people are lying. They are lying for political gain. They are lying using racist assumptions. The damn judges practically giggled as they issued this ruling. All that was missing was them standing up and yelling "UP YOURS, BUSH!!"
Voting is not the problem everyone makes it out to be. This entire thing has been trumped up and everyone knows it, including you.
Face it, some Democrats just don't LIKE elections.
