Ok, XP Pro or Home? Upgrade version or full version?
Given the considerable difference in price it is easy to choose on financial grounds. (Home Upgrade $99.95 street price, Pro Upgrade $189.95 S/P. Full vers Home $179.95 S/P Pro $299.95. Range is $20.00 +/- S/P)
But I don’t want to be cussing and crying sometime in the future because I made the wrong choice.
I’ll be using my system for a number of working programs.
A word processor of course. (Still using Corel Word Perfect 10.0, it is easy and efficient. And I’m used to W/P’s quirks and limitations. Besides it came with a very good Dictionary bundled in it.)
Audio editing and recording, currently using Audacity, nice freeware, it does what I want it too. All my cassettes and records are waiting to be digitized and cleaned up.
I don’t plan on doing any Video work, at this point anyway. Some day I may buy a digital cam-corder, or not. But if I do, of course I would like to be able to work with it.
Basic personal finances, if I ever figure out how to use a Quicken clone properly.
Also, a glorified answering/fax/phone system, since I am on dial-up at this point I’d like to cut back to one phone line save me about 25 bucks a month.
A LAN, about 3 or four units at most. No server needed for a LAN that small.
Any suggestions
Which one? Decisions decisions decisions.......
