I kinda hope FTL isn't possible.
Give me a starship, with stasis pods, capable of 0.2c and I'll be happy. If that's the case, then a grand experiment in evolution will be possible. Small colonies of Humans spread out amongst the stars, separated by decades or centuries of travel time. Such long trips will result in only the most determined people making them. Just think of the types of cultures and new species arising from such complete isolation.
