what a conservative would do

I believe the idea of a conservative is someone who wants to conserve things. So from that point of view this is what I think is right.
The deficit should be brought down because it conserves money by not having to spend it in interest. Stimulus should be of the most effective and cheapest kind according to economists, which would have been tax cuts to the lower and middle classes. The current tax cuts were pretty much a waste of money and so not conserving.
The Iraq war was wrong because it expended an enormous amount of money on weaponry that now has to be replaced. That weaponsy should have been conserved for a real threat.
It was wrong to invade Iraq because there was no substantial evidence it was a danger and it turned out they weren't a danger anyway. It would have been better to conserve one's options by using inspectors and giving them the opportunity to have sanctions lifted if they could prove there were no WMD.
It was wrong to break so many alliances with e.g. Germany, France, and Russia. They should have been conserved for when they are needed.
The tax cuts were wrong because they give money to a small percentage of the population and put the rest in debt to pay for them. Rescinding them would conserve more money for the overall health of the economy.
Bush's cuts in the environment are wrong. The environment needs to be conserved so it will be good for future generations not used up in the short term. With global warming much more needs to be done to conserve the climate and lifestyle we have now.
Reconstruction in Iraq shouldn't be done, give them a few billion and pull out. They should be able to do as much themselves on the cheap which conserves a lot of money. Pulling out conserves lives, money and materiel.
Paying off North Korea to give up its nuclear program is much cheaper than defending against it, so this conserves more money.
Pensions should be preserved and general social security. This feeds back money into the middle classes who earn it back in profits. Rescinding them for tax cuts to the rich gives them money while devastating the middle and lower classes. They need to be conserved. people often lose work and get into trouble, and it is beter to give them a way to fix themselves than to let them fail because on the average they can contribute more to the economy when they are back on their feet. Too much welfare can waste money and doesn't conserve. If pensions aren't paid then these people will have to live off relatives or charity so the money has to be paid anyway, and that money won't be available in the general economy. Hence it would hurt the economy instead of conserving it.
In the same way universal health care is conservative. It costs much less than the alternatives which saves moeny overall for the economy. Also if people can stay more healthy they can be more productive. With the total amount people pay in taxes and other benefits to society it is cheaper to keep them productive.
