re: US military spending
I didn't really get the impression LJ was trying to "spin percentages," but rather just ask why we (the US) spends such an unGodly amount of money on our military. It's not a totally unreasonable question, and the military's tough enough to stand a little scrutiny, isn't it?
No one that I know is suggesting we incapacitate the military. But if we were to re-allocate the cost of even just a few fighters, tanks and missiles, we'd have a nice pile o' cash we could use to help Americans in need. Would that be socialism, or just good old garden-variety decency?
