The mainstream economists do not believe:
1. That tax cuts to the rich is an effective stimulant.
2. That eliminating social security and other welfare is beneficial to the economy.
3. That Ayn Rand was describing a viable society economically.
1. Tax cuts to those people who pay the taxes does stimulate growth, progress and innovation. The fact that the wealthy pay most of the taxes is the fault of people who think like you, not me.
2. Redistribution of wealth by force is not conducive to productivity or economic growth, nor does it encourage true generosity where needed. In fact, it tends to stifle it. There are other ways to get the job done than by the current Ponzi schemes.
3. Ayn Rand described a system of thought. Capitalism was an outgrowth of that system.
Of course my ideas work. Examination of the history of capitalism vs. its alternatives can bring a reasonable person to no other conclusion.
