re: Baghdad deal?
The odd part about this story is why wouldn't Saddam go to the UN or France or Russia with a proposal in the eleventh hour to halt the invasion? Why would he go directly to the US when he could have embarrassed the US and contacted any member of the UN for a peaceful solution. I also have a hard time believing that Saddam would trust an arrangement with the US without the UN's input and approval.
