To have some alleged unofficial back channel lfoat to the surface after the fact, when it is clear that saddam was expert at bullshit negotiaitons, is a non-starter. Period.
We made our position known, we communicated it clearly and plainly, we gave a plain time table and saddam chose to play us for fools as he had done for 12 years. saddam is the author of his own doom, just like any other tyrant.
