While I am non-partisan, my guess is that given the overall lack of public support for manned Mars flight, the Republicans will now draw Dean out on this in detail, and then hang him with it... a la Jerry Brown, "Governor Moonbeam". Dean? Oh yeah, "Howard the Martian"...
If anyone was looking for a call from Bush Jr for manned Mars flight after MER 1 and 2, Beagle, and Mars Explorer, since Dean has taken the lead, Bush Jr would now be seen as a "me too" on manned Mars flight...
