You have apparently chosen op-ed.
There is no more history backing up the claim that FDR deliberately conspired to get Japan to attack us, and knowing the details of the atack allowed it to happen, than there is for et bodies being found at Rosweel, NM.
Did FDR screw up? Yes he did.
He did not realize that Japan, in the hieght of its imperial-fascist power, might try to attack us, and he left our forces vulnerable.
The intel that came in was not well managed for its implications.
The military was not integrated into the communications loop, nor did it have ethe ability to quickly respond.
But that is what war is about: mistaken intel, false conclusions, lost opportunity. It has held true inprobably every war ever fought, from Ceasar invading Gaul to 911 to the invasion of Iraq.
The problem is the conspiracy nuts nave a profound need to mythologize war into grand plots and mutterings and second guessings.
War is human behavior with more blood spilt than most other behaviors.
Unfortunately for us.
