Feel good bullshit and paper dragon fame.

Most all these papers are, unfortunately, worthless, because they try to put finite measurements on something anyone with common sense can see is not finite. Fixed measurements of any finite set of data and attempting to generate a cosmological model based on that data is ridiculous. It would be like measuring three rocks and then guessing how many rocks are on the planet and how big they are - or worse trying to guess how many rocks are on all the planets in the universe.

Worthless huh? Well they're not consistent with the standards of the "Quantum Astrophysics" community but we mortals have to do the best we can.

Johannes is trying to learn about things that a lot of folks would consider geeky.

He's not trying to learn anything but what he thinks will make him the rebel science savant that will cast all the false science gods from their ivory tower. He's an egotistic hack an a piss poor one at that. Some psuedoscience hacks are more charismatic and better at presenting their case but are essentially the same....

Whenever you or anyone else feels he is blowing hot air or espousing a fallacious POV - remember he is by no means alone and is just not as good a professional BS-er like many who have been "properly educated" and know how to use references so that you can spread the responsibility for your POV and give the illusion your BS is the next logical step.

Wow, that is all one sentance. I'm not going to lie to you and say this doesn't go on. It sure does, clearly. The fields of emperical science are so diverse that people can get away with it if they're in an esoteric enough branch and no one is paying attention. If they still get all those papers published and nobody catches on that it's all garbage, then maybe the author can get tenure, right?

The fact that this occurs DOES NOT undermine the principles of physics and it's the exception rather than the rule. Just because YOU don't understand the discussion of something doesn't mean nobody does and it's gibberish.

Anyway, how many folks out there really give a rat's rear about science at all? How many spend ANY amount of time thinking about scientific things?

Well me at least. A few others here certainly. Most might just like watching the fur fly so to speak but some here really care. It makes a difference to some of us that this place be rooted in the tried and true methods of science. And it's certainly not an ivory tower elitism at work here with Johannes. He's in a jade pit of his own crafting because he refuses to believe reality is other than he desires it to be. Now, building an outhouse over his pit isn't really nice, so to speak but I think we've brooked enough of his bullshit here. R.L. and Nick have gone through many, many calculations showing how his notion is energetically insignificant. And although now it's down to name calling and worse, initially it was done in a helpful spirit.

When one plugs in those numbers, hopefully everyone will realize that everyone pooping on Johannes' parade is in itself counterproductive, even if he is wrong. A teacher does not curse at a student's error, but shares knowledge.

Your distain for empericisim is showing. Like I said before, he's not here to learn but to be vindicated. Anything else is just filtered noise.

I mentioned earlier my belief about the "one great idea" that I believe everyone has to contribute to science. And I still hold that view. How many folks gave up on science because of being humiliated. For all we know Johannes may have a daughter that becomes the next Marie Curie because her dad encouraged her to think about scientific things. Would you or anyone here want to have derailed her career just so as to put Johannes in his place?

If the hypothetical her hypothetical "career" were derailed by something someone said over a chat board to her dad, she probably needs to consider a different line of work anyway. If it's
what she wants to do, she'll find it not by making her dear ol' dad happy but by following her heart and living life as she chooses.

This whole little game people play with themselves and others is so damn silly. They think that if they take on the topics and vocabularly of a scientist and behave haughty as they percieve a scientist does, then the understanding immediately follows. After all, how hard could it be, right? If that guy can do it, so can I, nevermind he's been grappling with the subject for most of his life.

This behavior is cute in children but in old men like Johannes, it's just plain sad.

Feel about it.
