Anyone else have a hard time closing IE windows?

Often I can't close a Webpage that's been opened in a new browser window. The page has to load completely before I can close it. This can be very annoying. Today, it was impossible to close the pic of Apollo 8 the Raoul posted.
I had to leave it minimized.

I'm usually on my wife's machine which runs XP home.

I don't remember this behavior with 98 SE?
