I have the same problem, it started about the same time I downloaded the last patch from microsucks.
Also, I can click a link and it won't begin opening for a few seconds. I began watching my firewall traffic indicator closely when this started and it doesn't show packet flow for some time.
Running 98SE with IE 6.
