re: Thanks for the answer Tom: Probably my question

was not totally clear, so your answer leaves me with some assumptions, would you please correct my interpretation of your answer.

You said: At this point in time, no advocate of "extraterrestrial technology" has even gotten to the level of item A. I'm not holding my breath.

Item "A" in my question was: " Would the explanation of the operation be enough?"

My assumptions are:
a) You have not read any of the books that contain purported explanations by purported observers of such "craft".
b) If you have read or heard about such books, then you can not understand the "physics" that may underlie the explanations.
c) You have some other (perhaps religious) objection to the existence of extra terrestrial intelligence.
d) You fear that which you do not understand.
e) You believe other people when they say that such books are not of any value to anyone.

Be that as it may.

To clarify the "A" part in my question, the inference that I made was that the described "craft" with their described operation would be beneficial to have IF they could be made.
Whether or not such "craft" allready exist elsewhere in the universe can be debated, but debating the issue will not get us any closer to "owning" one.

OK I'll put the "A" part of the question differently.

SUPPOSE that I was to explain the "physics" involved in the operation of a craft that would look and act like the purported "cigar" or "saucer" shaped craft, would you then believe that such a craft might work if constructed?
